Week Three Bradley Nelsen Deed I Do Preformed By Ruth Etting Deed I Do preformed by Ruth Etting and written by Fred Rose is another prime example of jazz in the 1920's. Granted, this dosen't sound much like the the typical jazz melodies produced by musicians such as Louis Armstrong, This song was made to appeal to a different crowd. With its poetic, ballad-like lyrics that tells the story of falling in love and its long verse-refrain structure this is a different type of jazz made to appeal to a different crowd of people. This simpler, more structured form of jazz music is what brought it to the mainstream and to all public eyes for all to enjoy. Deed I Do draws inspiration from the works of Paul Whiteman, who's concert jazz band grew popular enough to give him the name of "The king of jazz".
